Nutrition plays an important role in your pet’s health and wellbeing. Some pets may benefit from a specially formulated prescription diet to help manage particular health conditions or support their nutritional needs. At Filey Vets, we can advise you on suitable dietary options based on your pet’s individual circumstances and your veterinary surgeon’s recommendations.
Prescription diets are specially formulated foods designed to support pets with specific health or nutritional needs. Depending on your pet’s condition, a veterinary surgeon may recommend a particular diet as part of their overall care plan.
Choosing the right food depends on several factors, including your pet’s age, weight, health and lifestyle. Our team can help you understand the purpose of a recommended diet and explain how to follow the feeding guidance provided by your veterinary surgeon.
The right diet can be an important part of managing certain health conditions and supporting your pet’s quality of life. Prescription diets may be recommended for specific nutritional needs, but the most suitable option will depend on your pet’s individual circumstances.
It is important to follow your veterinary surgeon’s advice when introducing a prescription diet. If your pet’s appetite, weight or general condition changes, contact the practice for guidance before making significant changes to their feeding routine.
Some specially formulated diets may help support pets with particular digestive sensitivities or gastrointestinal concerns.
A veterinary-recommended diet may help support a suitable weight-management plan for pets that need to lose weight or maintain a healthy body condition.
Certain diets are formulated to support specific kidney or urinary health needs when recommended by a veterinary surgeon.
