Health Checks

Regular health checks are an important part of keeping your pet healthy and identifying potential problems early. At Filey Vets, we provide veterinary health assessments to help monitor your pet’s wellbeing throughout every stage of life. Whether you have a young puppy or kitten, an adult pet or a senior companion, our experienced team can assess their health and provide advice tailored to their individual needs.

Routine Health Checks

Routine health checks allow our veterinary team to assess your pet’s general condition, monitor changes in their health and identify signs that may require further investigation. During an examination, we may assess your pet’s weight, body condition, eyes, ears, mouth, skin, heart and general mobility, depending on their individual needs.

These appointments also give you the opportunity to discuss any concerns about your pet’s behaviour, appetite, exercise, diet or daily routine. Our team can recommend appropriate preventive care and explain whether any further examinations or diagnostic tests are needed.

What to expect during a health check

Preventive Healthcare for Every Life Stage

Your pet’s healthcare needs can change as they grow older. Young animals benefit from regular monitoring as they develop, while adult pets need ongoing attention to maintain good health. Senior pets may require more frequent assessments to help identify age-related changes and manage long-term conditions.

At Filey Vets, we can help you understand which health checks may be appropriate for your pet based on their age, breed, lifestyle and medical history. Regular assessments can also provide an opportunity to discuss vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care and any other relevant aspects of their wellbeing.

Health checks may be recommended for:

Puppies and Kittens

Young pets need monitoring as they grow and develop. Health checks provide an opportunity to assess their progress and discuss vaccinations, nutrition and routine preventive care.

Adult Pets

Routine examinations help monitor general health, weight and body condition while allowing potential concerns to be discussed before they become more serious.

Senior Pets

Older pets may develop changes in mobility, appetite, weight or behaviour. Regular veterinary assessments can help identify concerns and guide appropriate care.

Pets with Ongoing Health Conditions

Pets with existing medical conditions may benefit from regular monitoring to assess their progress and determine whether their management plan needs to be adjusted.
